But it's not just the digital evolution, it has become clear that every opportunity to engage with consumers in a relevant way is an opportunity worth exploring. All of which translates in a greater need for extroardinary creative ideas. It also asks for brand bravery. Much of the innovative creative ideas are on unexplored territory, you're making up the rules as you go along. There's little guarantee for the succes of your ideas but when it all comes together just right the results often outperform your expectations.
And we also believe that it's not like we have a choice. It's not just that we have an opportunity to create more engaging consumer experiences, we believe that it's actually a must do. We can still achieve much with great storytelling when done right, but we also need to give people stories to tell to each other. In other words we need to create social objects which allow us to provoke conversations about the brand." Kris Hoet.
Kris spent most of his career client side before joining the agency Duval Guillaume Modem in 2009. He's been into digital since he started working in 1998 at Kinepolis Group, a large cinema chain in Europe, where he was responsible for the first website and lead all of their European digital efforts during the 7 years he worked there. After that he found a new challenge at Microsoft, first leading the consumer marketing efforts for MSN in Belgium for a short time after which he joined and later lead the EMEA marketing team for MSN/Windows Live. With 12 year of experience in digital marketing Kris switched to the agency side, where he became Managing Partner Digital at Duval Guillaume Modem, a well-known creative agency based in Antwerp. All Gunns Blazing is our name for what the award shows variously call Contact and Content, Integrated, the more humble Mixed Media, Innovative, Titanium et al. Indeed, we also find our AGB database ensnaring some of the most excellent winners in categories like Branded Content & Entertainment, PR, Promotion, Direct and even Outdoor.
Since 5-6 years ago – while the very best in Film and Print remains as great as ever – it would be fair to say that more and more of the campaigns the world admires, applauds and awards the most fall under the umbrella of All Gunns Blazing. Often these are digital-led, and even more often an innovative outdoor installation or happening or stunt, which captivates crowds, engenders social media buzz and is a hot item on local or even international news. It often involves going somewhere no-one has been before.
In our Subscription site, the section TGR Library contains all of the All Gunns Blazing winners that have made our Table each year since, we started in 2008 – fully searchable in every useful way, in “Entry Video” format and with all credits. But – so worthy is this category of celebrating and sharing – that we wanted to have a meaningful selection on our Free site too – for visitors who haven’t subscribed yet (some of whom, it seems, don’t even work in advertising and marketing).
