Gunn TV
GUNN TV (aka: “Donald’s TV Library”) is totally unique. It has been created over the last 32 years to be a highly selective Library of the world's best-ever TV commercials.
Only 100 selections per year from anywhere in the world ever go in, ie: 1999 to 2009, and for future years, those that have made it onto The Showreel of The Year in The Gunn Report.
Plus an average of 60 selections per year from the nineties – 1990 to 1998, 40 selections per year for the eighties – from 1980 to 1989 - plus the 300 or so best from the seventies and sixties – chosen on the same basis, the world's most awarded and most admired and applauded every year.
Our remit is simply: Only the Best. All of the best.
As of January 2011, the Library is 2,710 commercials strong.
The second thing that makes Gunn TV Library one of a kind is its Menus – the different ways you can search in it
It provides the conventional menus – the ones you'd expect – of course. You can search for the best commercials ever made for example, by country or region, by advertising agency, by production company, by director, by years and of course PRODUCT CATEGORY (22 product groups, broken down into 105 product categories)
The Library also contains three unique menus, created by an advertising person for advertising people with their daily work and challenges in mind.
ADVERTISING MESSAGES (95 on menu)
DRAMATIC FORMATS (35 on menu)
CREATIVE FEATURES (59 on menu)
When you have made any search – let’s say, for example, the best Car commercials from Europe from 1995 to 2009 – your screen will show you key frames / titles / years for all ads meeting your criteria. For our example it would be “Search Results of 48”. You can click on the icons under each key frame to play the spot or view 4 key frames + synopsis & credits. Let’s say you want to choose a reel of about 15 of these (whether for a briefing, or a Client brainstorming, or a presentation, e.g.).
You transfer your “short list” (chosen by viewing spots / or by synopses / or directly with ones you know) to your “Clipboard”. Now you can delete less excellent ones to get reel to desired length: and move spots around for best running order. Next, transfer from Clipboard to Reels. Click on “Play” for first spot. The complete selection will now play as a Showreel – full screen on your laptop for a small meeting; or projected from laptop to meeting room screen for a larger group.
